This site sets a small number of cookies. Most are there to make it work; none of them follow you around the internet.
What we set, and why
Essential
Keep the site working: holding a form while you fill it in, remembering that you have already answered the cookie banner, and keeping the connection secure. The site cannot run without these.
Preferences
Remember small choices you have made, such as a language, so that you do not have to make them again on the next page.
Measurement
Count visits and show us which pages people actually read, so we know what is worth writing more of. We look at totals, not at individuals.
Embedded content
A map, a video or a booking window placed inside one of our pages may set cookies of its own when that page loads. Those belong to the companies concerned and are covered by their policies, not by ours.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website leaves on your computer or phone so that it can recognise the same browser the next time it sees it. Some last only until you close the tab. Others sit there for months. A cookie can hold a preference, a session or a count. It cannot read the rest of your machine.
What we do not do
No advertising cookies. No profile of you built up and sold on. Nothing that follows you from here to other websites. If that ever changes, this page changes first and we ask you before anything is set.
Refusing and deleting them
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings and then Privacy. You can refuse everything except the essential ones and this site will still work, though one or two things may need doing twice. Deleting cookies also clears any preference you have set here, so the site will ask again.
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which throws everything away as soon as you close it.
Your agreement
Where the law asks for your permission before a cookie is set, we ask for it the first time you visit and we remember the answer. You can change your mind whenever you like by clearing the cookies for this site in your browser and answering differently.
Changes to this page
If we add a tool that sets a new cookie, this page is updated to say so, along with the date above.
